Wedding Project Ideas You Can Start Before Setting a Date
For couples planning a wedding in 2020 or 2021, you’re facing a lot of uncertainties. Namely, will your wedding actually happen on the date you’re planning it for? It’s almost impossible to say for sure.
However, with (likely) a lot of free time on your hands, you probably want to tackle some wedding-related projects and get a little crafty. Here are some things you can work on without needing to commit to a wedding date.
Dip-Dye
With the resurgence of tie-dye, I’m confident that dip dyeing will be a wedding trend in the foreseeable future. Why not acquire the skill while staying at home and dip-dye table runners for your wedding? If runners seem like a large task, how about handkerchiefs for the wedding party? Who knows, maybe you’ll get started, love it, and dip dye something for each of your wedding guests?!
Table Numbers
If you’re assigning guests to tables on your wedding day, you’ll need table numbers – and now’s the perfect time to create something unique. If you’re planning to invite 150 guests, you’ll need to make 15 table numbers. Typically, there are 10 guests seated at each table and, even though all 150 invited guests won’t be attending, you’ll be sure not to run short on table numbers when the day comes.
Thank You Cards
You’ll need thank you cards for every aspect of wedding planning. You’ll need them for bridal shower gifts, bachelorette party attendees, to thank your vendors, and to thank your guests. Now’s a great time to create thank you cards that you’ll love and cherish. In fact, I also recommend creating a custom return address stamp that you can use for correspondence pre and post-wedding!
Photo Shot List + Seating Assignments
This may sound insane, I know; however, I see couples struggle with these things all the way up to the wedding day. Why not tackle them now? I promise it will make your life so much easier and save you and your fiancé from a handful of potential arguments down the road.
Also, I know you don’t have your final guest list; however, you probably know the friends and family who will be in attendance no matter what. Start grouping those “definite attendees” by groups of 10 to make things easier for you as your wedding approaches.
DIY Wedding Favors
Wedding favors do not need to have the date on them! There are so many that can be created and stored for future use. Here are two good examples:
Honey doesn’t expire, so bottle up some local honey from the farmer’s market to give your guests.
Purchase large quantities of olive oil from Costco, infuse it, rebottle it, and gift it when the wedding day comes.
Work On Your Gift Registry
You can create your entire wedding registry without ever stepping foot in a store. Even though I’ve been married for 10 years, I clearly remember creating a registry with my fiancé (now hubs!) as a highlight of my wedding planning journey.
The show must go on! Focus on things that bring you joy during this time. If planning a piece of your wedding is something you’re excited about, give one of the above projects a try!
