Recently engaged? How to pick a wedding date amidst the pandemic.

If you’re recently engaged, I can imagine that choosing a wedding date is one of the hardest decisions you’ve ever faced. Pre-pandemic, choosing a wedding date involved some discussions with family members and venue hunting. Today, choosing a wedding day involves predicting the future of the world – a complex and impossible task.

In speaking with my couples during this time, I’m hearing most say that their goal is to have a celebration that’s as close as possible to the one they initially envisioned. Even if their immediate plan is to elope or have an intimate wedding ceremony on their original date, they want to have a party! So, my goal is to help bring that vision to life.

My advice? Choose a date 3 months beyond the date that you consider “safe.” For example, if you feel like most of your wedding guests would feel comfortable attending your wedding in March 2021, I suggest planning for June 2021. This will leave room for uncertainties related to the pandemic and provide extra time to ensure all of your guests feel comfortable making the trip (if they live out of town) and attending the wedding.
